Bio: I obtained my undergraduate and my Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology. I started my PhD in the department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta in January 2016.

Project Title: Preparation and characterization of micropatterned membranes using a modified phase inversion technique for water and waste-water applications

Project Description: In the last few decades, there has been an increasing interest in membrane technologies for water and wastewater treatments due to their distinct advantages such as low energy consumption, ease of preparation and upscaling process, and the wide variety of polymers that can be used at a relatively low cost. However, the deposition of unwanted colloid, organic, and inorganic particles on the membrane surface and inside the membrane pores causes severe water flux reduction. This is known as membrane fouling and it is one of the most critical issues that limit the widespread use of this technology. My PhD research is focused on applying physical methods to make fouling-resistant membranes. I am co-supervised by Dr. Sameoto (UofA, Department of Mechanial Engineering).
